AP Municipal Elections 2021: Deadline For Filing Nominations Replacing Deceased Candidates Till Feb 28
AMARAVATI: About the nominations of candidates for the upcoming Municipal elections 2021 to be held in the state of Andhra Pradesh, the State Election Commission (SEC) has given an opportunity for parties to nominate others in the place of those who died after filing nominations.
In its announcement released on Saturday, the SEC said that candidates from the respective parties have been given the opportunity to nominate in place of the deceased candidates.
The deadline for filing nominations for the candidates who will replace the deceased should be completed by 3PM on the 28th of this month.
The SEC in a release said that 56 candidates from different parties died due to various reasons after they had filed nominations last year. The Elections were postponed on March 15 due to the onset of COVID pandemic.

The SEC released the schedule for the Municipal Elections 2021, which will commence from March 10 and as per the notification the elections will commence from where it had stopped.
Out of the 56 candidates who died after filing nominations last year, 28 belonged to the YSRCP, 17 to TDP, 5 BJP and 5 were others.
The SEC in its notification stated that the election process will continue from the stage of ‘Withdrawal of Candidature’ in respect of (12) Municipal Corporations and (75) Municipalities / Nagar Panchayats.
Re-elections will be held on March 13 in places where re-elections are deemed necessary. Counting of votes will be conducted on March 14.
