AP Govt To Give Housing Sites to Flood-affected Victims

AP CM YS Jagan visits flood-ravaged districts of Kadapa, Chittoor: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday visited the devastated villages in Kadapa district and consoled the victims. The Chief Minister first made a field visit to Pulapattur and Mandapalli villages in Rajampet constituency which were devastated due to the floods caused by very heavy rains.

The Chief Minister promised to get new houses built in five cents of land each for those who lost their shelter in the deluge.

He promised also a job on an outsourcing basis to a family member of each of the deceased within ten days.

Steps are taken to facilitate employment through the Employment Guarantee Scheme.

YS Jagan assured women that the government would bear one year's interest on the loans obtained by members of women self-help groups.

Addressing the public , YS Jagan said, “The very heavy rains caused widespread damage on an unprecedented scale but the official machinery did an exemplary job to mitigate the victims' woes. The government will help you by all means,” he assured. The lists for social auditing are displayed in your village secretariats. If there are still one or two left, check the lists and send your complaints to the village secretariats, they will ensure you of help.

Agriculture lands that are dependent on Pincha and Annamayya reservoirs for irrigation have been flooded with sand. The AP government will pay Rs. 12,500 per hectare to remove sand accumulated in the fields. 

Compensation to farmers through e-crop: Compensation will be given to all the farmers registered on the e-crop platform. Many of the farmers have been cultivating for a long time, many people have complained that they do not have a title deed. That is why we have directed the collectors to give compensation on the basis of e-crop data.

Responsibilities have been assigned exclusively to six Deputy Collectors who will stay here until Sunday to supervise these tasks. They will also stay in their allotted villages every Tuesday and Friday for the next two months.

YS Jagan also appreciated the timely efforts of the district collector who evacuated the people in the low-lying areas to safety after the Pincha and Annamayya dams were damaged by the flash floods. The discharge capacity of Annamayya Dam was 2.15 lakh cusecs but it was damaged and 3.20 lakh cusecs of water was released. 

We have ordered an immediate redesign of Pincha Dam and Annamayya Dam structures to ensure that they can withstand  the effects of floods in the future. We have ordered to build a protection wall to prevent flood water from reaching the displaced areas everywhere up to Nandalur Bridge, he said. 

CM YS Jagan also appreciated the relief efforts of the YSRCP leaders including Rajampeta MP PV Mithun Reddy, MLAs Amarnath Reddy, Meda Venkata Mallikarjuna Reddy, and other officials during the floods which ravaged YSR Kadapa district a fortnight ago. It has been a great effort by the district administration who worked unitedly to ensure that the flood relief work was done to help the people with ten to thirteen days, YS Jagan said.
 

The Chief Minister also inspected the bridge which was recently washed away in the Swarnamukhi river on the Papanayudu Peta-Gudimallam road on Thursday night. Authorities explained that the 195-meter-long bridge had collapsed due to the flash floods.
 

Public representatives and officials at Papanayudupeta have brought to the notice of the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy that people are facing severe difficulties as there are no bridges over the Swarnamukhi and Nakkalavagu rivers to go to Chennampalli. Around 15 villages were disconnected from the mainland due to the heavy river flow.

The Chief Minister visited the Annamayya project site and reviewed the situation with Kadapa district Collector Vijaya Rama Raju and other officials. He directed the authorities to take steps to strengthen the project and take the required steps to ensure such destruction did not recur.
Later, he reached Renigunta and visited the ST Colony at Vedallacheruvu to take stock of the situation. The CM inspected a photo exhibition on flood damage in Chittoor district.

The Chief Minister will visit the flood-ravaged areas in the temple town of Tirupati on Friday before proceeding to Nellore district, which also witnessed large-scale destruction.
