It's common knowledge that the chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is pulling out all stops to improve the quality of education in government schools. The YSRCP government is investing a lot of time and effort in that direction. 

CM YS Jagan’s vision is to make the students ready to compete with the best of the world and to that end the state government has introduced several educational welfare schemes like Amma Vodi, Jagananna Vidya Kanuka, Jagananna Gorumudda and Jagananna Vidya Deevena. 

Principal Secretary of Education Andhra Pradesh Praveen Prakash is the man who is trying to streamline education in all government schools in the state. Through his popular YouTube programme, “From the Desk of Principal Secretary,” the able administrator Praveen Prakash frequently connects with the teaching staff. 

In the latest episode, the Principal Secretary described the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Andhra Pradesh Government and Switzerland-based IB for introducing the IB curriculum in the State-run schools a “watershed event” in the history of the school education department. 

Explaining the reason behind the introduction of International Baccalaureate (IB) syllabus in the government schools, Prakash said the future-proof curriculum will help develop critical thinking, leadership and creativity among the students. During his virtual talk, he also stated why and how the concept of IB syllabus came into being. 

The Principal Secretary added that the education department will train the teachers before fully rolling out the IB syllabus in state-run schools and it will be first introduced for students of Class 1 from the academic year 2025-26 and will be gradually implemented every succeeding year by 2035.
