AP CM YS Jagan Tributes To Mahatma Gandhi, Former Pm Lal Bahadur Shastri

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday,  remembered two of India’s famous personalities- Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversary which falls on October 2.

Taking to the social medial handle Twitter, the Chief Minister wrote,” Fondly remembering two noble personalities of India, father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their Jayanti. Their ideals and thoughts for the greater good of society will eternally resonate in every stride our nation makes to progress,” he tweeted.

AP Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan also paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bhadur Shastri who was the second prime minister of the nation,on his 118th Birth Anniversary.

"On Gandhi Jayanthi , I pay my humble tributes to the Father of the Nation #MahatmaGandhi. His supreme sacrifice for the Nation, his immortal spirit and timeless teachings will always guide us as a Nation. His teachings have always been an inspiration to the world leaders. His path of peaceful resistance and mass civil disobedience has been emulated across the world. On this day, let us take a pledge to rededicate ourselves to the principles of Truth and Non-violence by following in the footsteps of our Father of the Nation.I pay my humble tributes to our second Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji on his 118th Birth Anniversary. His slogan "Jai Jawan Jai Kisan" during the Indo-Pak war of 1965, inspired the entire nation. Shri Shastri promoted White Revolution to increase the production and supply of milk and the Green Revolution to increase food grain production in the country. He left an indelible mark on the country, he wrote on his message.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary and urged everyone to purchase khadi and handicrafts products as a tribute to him. He also fondly remembered India's second prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, whose birth anniversary also falls on October 2, noting that he is admired across the country for his simplicity and decisiveness. The prime minister visited Raj Ghat and Vijay Ghat, memorials to Gandhi and Shastri, respectively, to pay tributes to them.
