Amaravati: Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy presented the vote-on-account budget of Rs 2.86 lakh crore for 2024-25 in Andhra Pradesh Assembly on Wednesday. He proposed revenue expenditure of Rs 2.3 lakh crore and capital expenditure of 30,530 crore in the interim budget.

The Finance minister estimated that the revenue deficit will be Rs 24,758 crore. He added that the fiscal deficit for the fiscal year 2024-25 would be nearly Rs 55,817 crore  and it would be 3.51 percent of the GSDP.

Rajendranath began his budget speech with the message of Mahatma Gandhi who had said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” He noted that the chief minister YS Jagan has regarded the YSRCP’s poll manifesto as a sacrosanct text and implemented almost all the promises made to the people during the last elections.

He emphasised  that the state budget is based on seven elements viz Decentralisation of Governance (Suparipalita Andhra), Samarthya Andhra (Empowered Andhra), Mana Mahila Mahanarula Andhra (Empowered Woman), Samkshema Andhra (Social Safety Andhra), Sampanna Andhra (Accomplished Andhra), Bhubadhra Andhra and ( Land Safety Andhra).

Finance minister further stated that had the state not been hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, the YSRCP government would have done many more developmental works in the state. The state government has done more than what is required for the poor and weaker section of the society.
