Ahead of 2024 Polls, Change of Guard in Telugu States BJP Units

Hyderabad/Amaravati: In a major organizational shake-up, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday appointed state presidents for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The change of guard in Telangana BJP was in news for quite some time after some disgruntled leaders expressed their dissatisfaction with the state BJP leadership. While the change in the leadership in Andhra BJP unit is unexpected. 
 
With an eye on upcoming 2024 elections, the BJP High Command has replaced both the Telugu states BJP chiefs. According to an official communication, senior BJP leader and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has been appointed as the state BJP chief for Telangana while D Purandeswari was given the charge of Andhra BJP unit. 

In addition to this, the central BJP has appointed the Huzurubad MLA Eatala Rajendar as the Chairman of Telangana Elections Management Committee. 

Earlier, BJP national chief JP Nadda held a discussion with the central ministers Bhupendra Yadav and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to decide on the names of candidates for the state leadership roles. The party has also appointed Sunil Jhakar as the Punjab BJP chief and Babulal Marandi will be the new BJP chief of Jharkhand unit.
