41A Notice Issued to BJP Candidate CM Ramesh
Anakapalli: CM Ramesh, the BJP candidate from Anakapalli Lok Sabha constituency, has been mired in controversies lately. Firstly, he faced legal action for obstructing government officials carrying out an inspection at a tiles and marble business store in Chodavaram.
A tiles and marbles trader named Buchi Babu was allegedly running the business without paying GST. A team of officials from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence conducted an inspection on Thursday following a tip-off that the trader was not paying GST properly. Ramesh and his followers were booked after the BJP leader intervened and prevented the officials from discharging their duties..
In another incident, Ramesh sparked controversy during a BJP workers' meeting in Narsipatnam, where sarees with the party's lotus symbol were distributed to activists. Narsipatnam Town Circle Inspector Kranthi Kumar, Municipal Commissioner Ravi Babu and the election flying squad, citing the enforcement of the model code of conduct, intervened and stopped the distribution of freebies. Ramesh reacted angrily, questioning whether it was wrong to give sarees bearing the party symbol to voters.
Following Ramesh's intervention in the matter, the police served a notice to the BJP candidate and asked him to appear before the Anakapalli Sub-Divisional Police Officer on April 9. A case has been registered under sections 353, 342, 506, 201, 188, 143/rw and 149 of the IPC. Six people, including CM Ramesh and Chodavaram TDP candidate Raju, have been named in the FIR.
