3 Telugu NRIs Arrest Incident in US: YSRCP's Strong Counter to TDP's Mud-Slinging

 - Sakshi Post

Recently, three Indian-origin men were arrested by the US police after the authorities rescued a 20-year-old student from captivity in Missouri state. The accused trio identified as Venkatesh R. Sattaru (35), Sravanvarma Penumetcha (23), and Nikhil V. Penmatsa (27) are facing criminal charges including first-degree domestic assault, abuse through forced labour and kidnapping.

Since the accused persons were Telugus, the desperate TDP and its friendly media found an opportunity to play politics and target the ruling YSRCP over the unfortunate incident. The TDP wasted no time in launching a smear campaign against the ruling party by claiming the prime accused Venkatesh was associated with the YSR Congress party.

Special Representative of AP for North America Pandugayala Rathnakar has strongly condemned the TDP allegations and said the opposition party has stooped to a new low by establishing a link between the crimes occurred on a foreign soil with the ruling party. He said the TDP is spreading fake news about the incident.

“The law will take it’s own course. The YSRCP party will abide by the rule of law and the perpetrators will be brought to justice,” Rathnakar said.

He fired a salvo of questions against the TDP and said will the party own up the crimes committed by the TDP activities as individuals? Will TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh take responsibility for the atrocities committed by the party leaders on women? The Special Representative of AP for North America further said the TDP is desperate to gain political mileage out of the overseas crime committed by the three individuals.

The opposition party should first respond to the claims of involvement of party men in the sex racket linked to call money in Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Vasudeva Reddy, NRI Medical Affairs Advisor, has said the prime accused person Venkatesh has no association with the ruling party. He said not that overseas YSRCP unit but every Telugu-speaking NRI is strongly condemning the indecent.

“The TDP and its friendly media have made it a habit to blame the ruling YSRCP for the crimes committed on the foreign land,”  Dr Vasudeva said.

As per the St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney Joseph McCulloch, the accused persons would force the victim to work as a servant at their homes for several months. The victim was badly beaten and forced to starve in captivity in one of the houses at the St. Charles County in Mussoorie state.

The victim was rescued by the police officers and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital for ‘multiple bone fracture as well as laceration on his entire body’, McCulloch told reporters. The main suspect in the case, Venkatesh, was identified as a cousin of the victim and his visa sponsor.
