3 AP Fishermen Released from Pakistani Jail to Return Home

Amaravati: Three fishermen from Andhra Pradesh, released from Pakistani jail last week, have arrived in Gujarat. The Pakistani authorities had released a total of 198 fishermen including three from the Telugu state. These fishermen reached Vadodara on Monday morning by a train from Punjab.
Out of the 198 Indian fishermen released, 184 are from Gujarat, three from Andhra Pradesh, four from Diu, five from Maharashtra and two from Uttar Pradesh. Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) caught them near Gujarat coast in the Arabian Sea for allegedly violating the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).
“Thanks to the diplomatic efforts of the central government, these fishermen, lodged in Pakistani jails, were released and handed over to Indian authorities at the Wagah border in Punjab on May 13,” the government said in a release.
On March 25, 2022, the Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan while responding to a query raised by YSRC MP V Vijayasai Reddy in Rajya Sabha told Rajya Sabha that three fishermen from the state had been detained in Pakistani prisons. Reddy had sought details from the Centre about the three fishermen who went missing in the Arabian Sea.
