Union Budget Only For Four Poll-Bound States, AP Betrayed: Anantapur MP
The Union Budget 2021 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has betrayed Andhra Pradesh, said Anantapur MP Talari Rangaiah to a leading English daily. Asserting that AP has got a raw from union budget, the MP rued that the Union Budget was aimed at appeasing voters in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal and Assam which will soon go to polls.
Talari said there was no mention of either special category status or on employment generation in the Budget speech made by the FM. He also said that there was no effort made by the Centre to please unhappy farmers who are protesting over the new farm bills.
MP Talari Rangaiah pointed out that even though Nirmala harped on Centre's Rs 75,000 crore towards MSP, it failed to talk about the payment of Rs 4,282 crore due to AP for the quantum of rice it had procured from the Central government.
Meanwhile, Anantapur Urban MLA Anantha Venkartarami Reddy said he was disappointed with the Centre's apathy towards famers. He said instead of addressing the grievances of farmers, the budget focused on putting money on cities.
He said he was expecting a revival package for farmers as the agriculture sector had been badly hit by the coronavirus pandemic. However, the budget had been focussed on benefitting corporates, he said.
