President, PM Pay Homage to ‘Architect of Indian Constitution’ on Ambedkar Jayanti

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid their rich tributes to the 'architect of Indian Constitution' Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar on his 128th birth anniversary. The day is also known as Ambedkar Jayanti or Bhim Jayanti.
Remembering his contribution, the President said that he fought a long battle for a modern India.
"Homage to Dr B.R. Ambedkar on his birth anniversary. An icon of our nation, and Chief Architect of the Constitution, Dr Ambedkar waged a life-long struggle for a modern India free of caste and other prejudices, ensuring equal rights for women and weaker sections," he tweeted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a video, paid homage to India’s first law minister.
"Remembering the father of the Constitution Dr BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary. Jai Bhim," he tweeted.

BR Ambedkar was born in 1891 to a lower caste Mahar family in Mhow in Madhya Pradesh. He went on to become a lawyer, political leader and economist, torchbearer of the anti-caste movement and one of India’s greatest liberal, intellectual thinkers.
He was awarded the Bharat Ratna posthumously in 1991.
