Rahul Gandhi’s past tweets come back to haunt him
The CBI has been in battle with West Bengal’s CM, Mamata Banerjee, over the investigation of Kolkata's Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar. West Bengal had taken a stand to not allow any raids by the CBI without the state’s permission. The Congress, TDP, Samajwadi Party, AAP have all spoken supporting the TMC chief.
The BJP has come out now to point out that Rahul Gandhi, a person who tweeted about Mamata Banarjee in bad light just a few years back, is now all in support of her. They had an entirely different position on her politics just a few years ago.
Rahul Gandhi had back then said, “"Mamata ji kahti thi brashtachar ko bangal se mita doongi, lekin jab unhe brashtachar dikhai diya, unke saamne, unke logo ne chori ki, toh Mamataji ne unpar action nahi liya ulta unki poori raksha ki," which when translated says, "Mamataji used to say that she will expel corruption from Bengal, but when she realised her own people were corrupt, and stole money, instead of taking action against them she protected them."
Not just Rahul Gandhi, but the Congress party, through their official Twitter page, was openly not very supportive of her ways. The sudden support really confuses people.
BJP leader Nalin Kohli lashed out at Mamata Banerjee over the whole issue saying, "It is reported in the media that one of the accused Supdipto Sen has pointed that laptop, pen drives have been seized and not been showed as seizure documents. What is it Mamata Banerjee is so petrified about, frightened that it will come out and will create a problem for them. Can one imagine a chief minister is coming on a dharna, forget constitutional propriety and is immediately there to protecting an officer who is seen thwarting the investigation and then they talk about democracy. In a state, where BJP workers are murdered, brutalised, permission for landing of chief minister's helicopter landing is denied, everything happened in a non-democratic is pursued. These are crocodile tears in the name of so-called 'Saving of Democracy, Saving of Constitution', those who act against the constitution, are ones who are clearly speaking in the language of protecting it. It is an ultimate irony, paradox," he said.
