Umar Khalid and Gujarat MLA, Jignesh Mevani
JNU student leader Umar Khalid on Saturday tweeted that he had filed a complaint with the Delhi police after receiving a threatening call from a man claiming to be the notorious gangster, Ravi Pujari.
Filed a complaint with @DelhiPolice regarding Ravi Pujari's death threat to Jignesh and me. He said that I am on his HIT LIST! I have asked for police protection, given the fact that this is the same person who had previously also issued similar threats of killing me in Feb 2016.

Umar Khalid tweeted saying the caller claimed that Khalid was on his 'hit list' and that he sought police protection.
On Friday, activist and Gujarat MLA, Jignesh Mevani had claimed that he had received a similar threatening from a man who claimed to be the gangster, Ravi Pujari from Australia for the third day. The caller is alleged to have said that Mevani would be shot if he doesn't stop giving provocative speeches. 'Umar Khalid is also in list,' the caller is reported to have said, Mevani posted.
Day 3, threat call continues from Ravi Pujari. Today again I received a threat call on my original number from a person introducing himself as Ravi Pujari frm Australia and also sent a text saying - "stop giving provocative speeches or will shot you. Umar Khalid is also in list"

Some expressed concern at the threats recived by Umar Khalid and Jignesh Mevani and questioned why a threat to Mevani should not be taken seriously if one to PM Modi or Devendra Fadnavis is:
If threats to PM Modi and Devendra Fadnavis are being taken seriously...why not Don Ravi Pujari’s threat to @jigneshmevani80 ? #ModiAssassinationPlot

There were others who took a different view, as well. These tweets go on to prove the nature of social media. Anyone and any topic becomes a subject of irreverent spoofs. Sample these satirical posts:

The current longest sniper shot record is held by a Canadian sniper at 3.5 kilometers. Ravi Pujari is planning to break this record with sniper shots across 8000 kilometers to India from Australia.
