Top 5 Bollywood Movies With Highest Opening Weekend

Any film industry will grow with new films, new faces and new directors. Bollywood is no exception. The first quarter has ended on a fantastic note. Some films have become a major hit at the box office. Among five films which raked in highest moolah in its opening weekend, two are women-centric films which pulled the audiences towards without any male star.

Padmavaat: Deepika Padukone's first film this year which went on to collect Rs 114 Cr in opening weekend at the box office. It included all languages like-Tamil, Hindi and Telugu.The film also stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles.

Baaghi 2: Though, it is a small budget film the film minted good profits at the box office. It remains to be the biggest opener this year after Padmavaat. Many A lister films released but all of them failed to beat Baaghi 2 collections at the box office. Disha Patani is seen playing the leading lady in the film. The film made a lifetime collections of Rs 164.38 Cr at the box office.

Raid: It is based on an income tax raid which had taken place in 1980. It featured Ajay Devgan and Illeana D'Cruz in lead roles. On its opening weekend, Raid minted Rs 41.01 Cr at the ticket window.

PadMan: Akshay Kumar is a man with a Midas touch. Most of his films in the recent days have been superhits at the box office thanks to the socially relevant theme he chooses. Akshay focuses more on content driven films which creates awareness among the audiences. His last release PadMan was based on the life of social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham who invented low-cost sanitary pads. The film impressed the audiences and bought so much change in rural areas after this film. It also made a whopping Rs 40.05 Cr in its opening weekend, one crore less than Raid to bag the third spot in the list.

Veere Di Wedding: It is a comeback film of Kareena Kapoor post Taimur's birth. Before and after its release, the film has been grabbing the headlines for good and bad reasons. This is the second female-centric film to bag fifth place in highest opening weekend collections. Apart from Kareena, Veer Di Wedding also stars Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania in lead roles. The film is having a dream run at the box office even though it received mixed reviews from the audiences.
