TDP To Contest Bypolls
Kurnool: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu made it clear that TDP would contest in bypolls to all the five seats which have fallen vacant after the resignations of YSR Congress Party MPs. It may be pointed out that the MPs resigned their Lok Sabha seats to protest against central government denying Special Category Status (SCS) to AP.
Speaking at a public meeting, the AP CM said there would be more clarity on the resignation of YSRCP MPs on June 5 when the MPs would meet Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan. He challenged the YSRCP MPs to get their resignations accepted and contest elections. He alleged that there were efforts to stop bypolls and called upon the people to defeat BJP and give TDP a minimum of 25 MP seats in the next general elections.

Chandrababu further said that the BJP-led NDA government was not allocating funds to Polavaram. Till date we have finished 55 per cent works and will complete the remaining 45 per cent by December this year. He informed the gathering that after the 2019 elections, regional parties will have a key role in forming the government at the Centre and that the TDP will have a crucial role. The TDP Chief asked Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan to stop making false allegations against him.
An interesting interaction between AP CM and daily wage workers and farmers took place after the meeting. Chandrababu asked them to vote for him and also tell others to vote for TDP. The people replied saying, "Yes sir we will vote for you only..." To this TDP President retorted by saying, "You will say this before me, you had kept me out of power for 10 years... I don't believe you."
