Why Karnataka Didn’t Like Rangasthalam

Ram Charan - Sakshi Post

That Telugu movies rake in maximum moolah in Karnataka is no news. A few Telugu films have done better in Karnataka than the Telugu state. Among those who enjoy a decent fan following in the Kannada state include Mahesh Babu, Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan. But it's not easy to please them though. Kannadigas love to watch Telugu movies and Bangalore particularly has a huge Telugu population. However, not all genres impress them. Take the case of the recently released Rangasthalam which features Ram Charan in the lead role.

Ram Charan's first film Magadheera entered Rs 50 Cr club. It also fetched Rs 58 Cr in Karnataka region alone which was the first Telugu film to have collected big figures at the ticket window.

Latest we hear is that, Ram Charan's Rangasthalam which has become the highest tollywood grosser of 2018 has become a disaster in Karnataka due to unknown reasons. Speculations doing the rounds suggest that Charan's fans in Karnataka prefer mass movies. As you all know Rangasthalam is an emotional drama where lead actors Cherry and Samantha are seen in never before seen avatars. They have won the hearts of Telugu audiences with an amazing storyline.

But we are still not able to figure out why Karnataka audiences didn't like Rangasthalam and why the film failed to rake in expected figures at the box office back there. We hope to hear a positive word from the Karnataka movie buffs too. Whatever it may be, Rangasthalam is one of the biggest blockbuster hits in the first quarter of 2018. Tollywood is on hattrick success with back to back releases-Rangasthalam, Bharat Ane Nenu, and Mahanati.

Rangasthalam is directed by Sukumar which also features Samantha, Jagapathi Babu, Anasuya, Pooja Hedge and Prakash Raj in lead roles. Watch this space for more.
