Bank Employees’ Unions Call For Strike on May 30, 31

Bank employees’ unions call for strike on May 30, 31
Hyderabad: Banking services are likely to be impacted on May 30-31 since various bank employees' unions have called for a strike on the two days. The bank unions have been pressing for several demands, including wage revision in the wake of the proposal for a two per cent hike in salary.
United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBA) has served a notice to go on a nationwide bank strike on May 30-31, 2018. UFBU is an umbrella body of various bank unions like AIBEA, AIBOC, NCBE, AIBOA, BEFI, INBEF, INBOC, NOBW and NOBO.
The strike call among others also opposes Indian Banks Association's delay in resolving a charter of demands, government's casual approach to wage revision for bank employees, including a meager offer of two per cent hike in wage revision.
UFBU has demanded an expeditious and early wage revision settlement, adequate increase in salary and improvement in other service conditions and wage revision settlement to include all officers up to scale VII.
Since all the nationalised banks are part of one union or the other, it is mostly likely that the normal services of the branches and offices of the banks may get affected. The services of banks in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are also likely to be hit with the call for strike. UFBU AP and Telangana Chapter Convenor VVSR Sarma warned the bank customers that the services would be affected on the two days and called for their support to make the strike successful.
