Renowned Telugu novelist Yaddanapudi Sulochana Rani - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Renowned Telugu novelist, Yaddanapudi Sulochana Rani passed away in California, United States of America this morning. Yaddanapudi breathed her last in sleep after suffering a heart stroke. She was 79 years old.

The iconic Sulochana Rani was an extremely popular writer during the 70’s and 80’s. She took the Telugu literary world by storm with her popular novels which brought a new dimension to human relations. She was born in 1940 in Kaza village of Movva Mandal in Krishna district. Several of her novels were made into popular Telugu movies.

She wrote stories for movies like Manushulu Mamathalu while her novels like Secretary, Radha Krishna, Agni Poolu and Bangarukalam were made into super hit films. It would probably be a trivialization of her work, or oversimplification of it to compare it to Mills and Boon of Telugu literature. Many of her novels like Meena (recently remade as A..Aa) and Radha Madhu (TV serial) are super hits.
