Hyderabad: Parents who strive all their life for their children, don't know that they are in for a rude shock once the children become independent! One such incident came to light yesterday in Hyderabad's Rehmat Nagar area in Borbanda. Two sons thrashed their parents out of their own house.

According to Jubilee Hills police, R Venkateswarulu (61) retired employee of HAL and his Vijaya Durga Devi constructed a two-storeyed house in Rehmat Nagar after former's retirement. Venkateswarulu put all the retirement benefits and got the house ready. His two sons RV Suresh Babu (43), works in a chit fund company and R Srikanth (36), a constable with City Armed Reserve, were living in the first floor while the parents were in the ground floor. The second floor was rented out.

Since Venkateswarulu was not getting any pension, the old couple were dependent on house rent for their daily needs. Vijaya Durga Devi, who lodged a complaint, said, "Since 2016, my sons and their wives were torturing us with an intention to force us to go out of the house."

The police said on May 12 Suresh and Srikanth dragged their father Venkateswarulu out of the house and started beating him with sticks. On seeing the plight of her husband, Vijaya Durga Devi tried to stop them but she too was thrashed.

The Jubilee Hills police have registered a case against the two sons under Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, but no arrests have been made till now.
