Neglected by Husband, Sarika Opposed Ticket to Rajaiah
Rajaiah's daughter-in-law Sarika, who was killed in a fire accident at their house in Warangal on Wednesday, had been complaining that her husband Anil and in-laws were ill-treating her and her children. She married to Anil in 2006 after a love affair with him since 2002. The couple went to the US where she was working. A traditional wedding of the couple was performed by families again after they returned to India. She was a native of Nizamabad and lived in Hyderabad with husband, but shifted to Warangal some time back when she came to know about Anil's second marriage with another woman.
Sarika staged a dharna in front of the house in protesting against Anil's second marriage and in-laws' support to his illegal marriage. She alleged that Anil's mother encouraged him to marry another girl and she performed all the wedding rituals. As father-in-law Rajaiah also never opposed his son's extra-marital affairs, she included him in her complaint.
Sarika also wrote to the AICC presiden Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi asking them not to give party ticket to Rajaiah. In fact, the party did not consider his name initially for the Warangal Lok Sabha by-election, but with other candidates G. Vivek and Sarve Satyanarayana shying away from the contest, knowing well that the TRS has better prospects in the district, Rajaiah was finalized. He filed a set of nomination papers on Monday and was about to file another set on Wednesday.
