Nearly 1500 Nominations filed for 150 GHMC Divisions
Hyderabad: The phase of filing of nominations for GHMC elections has ended at 3pm on Sunday. For the 150 divisions in the GHMC, nearly 1500 nominations have been filed by the candidates from various parties on the last day for the 'greater war'. There was a huge rush at the nomination centers since morning where dozens of nominations have been filed for each ward.
By the close of the deadline, the ruling TRS party has announced 143 names of its contesting candidates and the remaining list of seven candidates is yet to be announced whereas Congress party had named 94 candidates and TDP announced its candidates for 87 divisions. Its ally BJP is contesting in 63 seats, but the party did not declare the candidates. Those who already filed nominations will be given B Forms on Monday. The party has asked two to three candidates to file nominations in each division so that it can select the final candidate from. that it is contesting for and the candidates' names will be announced on Monday.
Meanwhile, MIM party fielded nominations for 75 wards in the city. The scrutiny of filed nominations will be carried out on Monday and the deadline for withdrawal of nominations is January 21. The polling for total 150 wards in GHMC limits will be held on February 2, counting and results will be on February 5.
In all the parties including TRS, rebels also filed nominations against the official candidates. The leaders are now busy persuading the rebels to withdraw nominations and work for the parties' official candidates.
