NBA Expresses Concern Over Stopping NDTV India For a Day

The News Broadcasters Association (NBA) expressed deep concern over the decision of the Inter- Ministerial Committee of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, to prohibit the transmission or re- transmission of NDTV INDIA Channel for one day on any platform throughout India with effect from 00:01hrs on November 9 till 00:01hrs of November 10 charging the channel with giving out sensitive information to the handlers of terrorists.

In a statement, the NBA said it was surprising to note that NDTV INDIA has been singled out for punishment. It argued that the channel followed the regulations specified under the Cable Act. It said the ministry should have referred the alleged violations to the News Broadcasting Standards Authority (NBSA), which is the independent self regulatory body of the NBA. The NBA requested the ministry to reconsider its decision.
