New Delhi: The Supreme Court will conclude the day-to-day hearing on the controversial Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case at Ayodhya by 5 pm today. The 5-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi on Wednesday said that 'Enough is enough'.

The bench constitutes justices S A Bobde, D Y Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and S A Nazeer. At the start of the proceedings on the 40th day, the bench said, "This matter is going to be finished today by 5 PM. Enough is enough."

The SC had earlier said that the hearing would conclude on October 17. The bench further rejected a plea of a party offering mediation in the case and observed that no interventions will be allowed at this stage of the proceedings.

It may be recalled that after the Allahabad High Court gave its judgement in 2010, delivered in four civil suits, that the 2.77-acre land in Ayodhya be partitioned equally among three parties -- the Sunni Waqf Board, the Nirmohi Akhara and Ram Lalla, fourteen appeals have been filed in the apex court against the judgement. The 16th-century Babri Masjid was demolished on December 6, 1992.
