Man With Three Wives Commits Suicide

Chennai: A Puducherry man, Singaravelu (30) could not find happiness despite going through three marriages and living with them happily, at least on the face of it. Leaving his three wives in a state of total shock, he committed suicide on Tuesday. The three women demanded his body for last rites, but police handed it over to the first wife, his cousin.

Singaravelu from Reddiyarpalayam in Puducherry state married Sandhya, his cousin first. Later, he married Dhanalakshmi and got married to Kavya after some time. Things were smooth for a long time and his first and second wives bore him two children each.

Singaravelu committed suicide due to family problems on Monday evening to the shock of his three wives. His body has been shifted to Indira Gandhi Medical College in Puducherry. Three wives reached the college and staged a protest to get back his body. At one stage the conflict escalated and the three clashed. Police intervened and handed over the body to his first wife, Sandhya.
