Mangalore: In a rare case of compassion and understanding the plight of a young widow, a woman got her widowed daughter-in-law remarried, so that she could lead a happy life.
This noble gesture took place at Sullia in Mangalore district in Karnataka. Getting into the details, Susheela, daughter of Shantappa Gowda a Gopalakaje resident in Sullia was married to Madhava, son of Padmayya, from the same village, three years ago.
Within a year of marriage, Madhava died in a road accident. Susheela who was pregnant at that time was shattered after the death of her husband. She later gave birth to a baby boy and was still grieving. Her mother-in-law Kunyakka who saw the trauma that her young daughter-in-law was undergoing decided to get her married again to secure her future.
Kunyakka spoke to all her family members and got them to agree to get Susheela remarried. However, Susheela was against it and vehemently refused, as she was worried about society and her son's future. But she eventually gave into her mother-in-law's persuasion.
Susheela was married off to Jayaprakash, a resident of Kanyana of Bantwal in a simple ceremony in Kote Temple in their village, where Kunyakka set an example that mother-in-laws' also have the same heart as a mother!
