Car Crashes Into Divider On Kunigal National Highway, Seven Killed
Bengaluru: Seven members of a family were killed in a deadly accident which took place in Karnataka on Friday. The incident took place on Kunigal National Highway in Tumkur district. The family, who hailed from Tamil Nadu resided at Sanjeeva Nagar in Bengaluru and was returning from a visit to Siddalingeshwara temple in Edeyuru.
The deceased have been identified as Goundamani, Veeramma, Selvi, Nagamani, Uma, Nirmala and Kalidasa, all in the age group of 30-35 years, who succumbed to their injuries and died on the spot. Three others - driver Yogeesh, Bhavani and Panchali, who are grievously injured, were shifted to a hospital in Bengaluru for treatment.
The police, who were alerted of the mishap, rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to the government hospital for post-mortem. According to the police, the incident occurred after the Innova car in which the family were travelling in, crashed into the road divider and the driver was unable to control the vehicle. The eyewitnesses stated that the tyres of the vehicle burst and came apart while car flung into other side of the road.
