BJP’s Sakshi Maharaj Meets Rape-Accused Kuldeep Senger In Jail To “Thank Him”
New Delhi: Controversial BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj on Wednesday met rape-accused party legislator Kuldeep Singh Senger in jail to "thank him" for the massive win in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao constituency in the recently concluded general elections.
"He has been lodged here for a long time, I came to meet him, to thank him after the elections," Maharaj said.
Senger, a lawmaker from Bangarmau in Unnao, has been lodged in Sitapur jail allegedly for raping a 16-year-old girl after she went to his home with a relative seeking a job.
The minor had tried to commit suicide outside Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's bungalow alleging that no one was acting on her complaint.
The minor's father died in jail custody on April 8. Amid the furore over the State government trying to shield him, the case was handed to the CBI and he was taken into custody.
Sakshi Maharaj, who had threatened his party with dire consequences if he was not fielded from his constituency, pulled off a staggering victory with over four lakh votes.
