Bomb Alert In KSR Railway Station In Majestic

Bengaluru: Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) Railway Station in Bengaluru came on high alert on Friday morning after an object looking like a hand-grenade was spotted on the tracks.

Bomb squad rushed to the station and the area was cordoned off.

At around 8.45 am, passers-by spotted the suspicious object but later the area was assessed as safe. The squad also searched the entire station premises and nothing was found.

Additional Director General of Police Railways, Alok Mohan told a leading web portal that there was a beeping sound within the train and that triggered the scare.

E Vijaya, Chief Public Relations Officer of South Western Railways told the portal that the railway security control reported that a hand grenade was spotted. Senior railway officers rushed to the spot.

Intensive checks were conducted throughout the railway station.

However no confirmation has come up as to what the suspicious object was and an official confirmation is awaited.

The KSR railway station in Majestic at the city centre is the busiest railway station in the city with a daily footfall of about 2 lakh passengers and around 100 trains leaving and arriving daily.
