Bengaluru: In an appalling video, a woman can be seen tossing on the floor writhing in labour pain at the empty Kolar’s KGF Government Hospital in Karnataka. She was allegedly made to wait for four hours in the hospital. As no doctors were available, the woman was taken to a private hospital later. However, her baby succumbed to the pain and could live no more.

The woman identified as Sameena (22) was taken to the KGF Government Hospital in Kolar after she began experiencing contractions on Tuesday. Her husband and two female relatives accompanied her to the hospital, according to a leading web portal. As there was no one to attend to her at the government hospital, she was taken to a private hospital.

She is currently admitted at the RL Jalappa hospital. Doctors said that they could save Sameena’s life, but the baby could not survive.

According to the leading web portal, the surgeon who was on call at KGF hospital has been suspended. Kolar BJP MP Muniswamy had gone to the Jalappa hospital to enquire about Sameena’s health.

Sameena's family has not lodged any complaint yet. But they have demanded that action be taken against the hospital authorities as also the district health officer.

In another incident, a five-month old pregnant woman from Bagalkote had to undergo an emergency amputation after a botched blood transfusion led to the onset of a gangrenous infection in her arm. The unhygienic conditions of the hospital aggravated her problems.
