Pulwama suicide bomber Adil Ahmed Dar - Sakshi Post

Jammu: After the suicide bomber attack where more than 44 CRPF personnel were martyred in Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir when a blast ripped through the bus they were traveling, which the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) claimed responsibility for. Police identified the terrorist as Adil Ahmad from Kakapora in Pulwama who joined the Jaish-Mohammed in 2018. Adil Ahmed Dar's father Ghulam Dar spoke to popular English channel to claim that he wasn't aware of his son’s activities and terror links.

But according to a report published in IB times, Adil Ahmad Dar was 22-year-old school dropout, who was described to be a shy and silent boy by his schoolmates but had suddenly disappeared from his home last year.

After a few days, his photograph posing with an AK-47 along with other local boys went viral where they claimed to have joined the Jaish--e-Mohammad outfit. His father and brother even lodged an FIR in the Pulwama police station to find him, but soon afterward the police were certain that he was training to become a militant and had also informed his father about the same.

Adil also came to be known as Waqas commando in South Kashmir and was linked to small attacks on police parties and security convoys in the valley. Police officials classified him as a C grade militant and were watching his movements.

It is believed that Adil may have also been involved in various sniper attacks that took place on security forces last year leading to the casualties of soldiers. These sniper attacks were masterminded by Usman Haider, who is also the nephew of JeM chief, Masood Azhar. Usman was killed by the security forces in 2018 and the police also claimed to have wiped out most of the leadership of the JeM outfit in Kashmir. In 2017, the security forces also killed Khalid, another nephew of Masood Azhar and a top JeM commander.

The suicide bombing seemed to have been carried out as revenge against their killings, apart from the Kulgam civilian killings and Babri Masjid demolition. This was also stated by Adil in the video that he released before the bombing.
