Union Budget 2019: Who Gets What

New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Piyush Goyal announced a Rs 61,398 crore budgetary allocation for the health sector for the 2019-2020 fiscal, with Rs 6,400 crore earmarked for the centre's ambitious AB-PMJAY health insurance scheme.

Here’s a breakdown of the budget allocation to different sectors.

Health

The Union Budget for 2019-20 saw an allocation of Rs 6,400 crore for the Centre's Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 23.

Rs 250 crore has been allocated for setting up Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres under the National Urban Health Mission to provide comprehensive and quality primary care close to the community.

Rs 1350.01 crore has been earmarked for setting up Health and Wellness Centres under the National Rural Health Mission.

The government allocated Rs 2,500 crore to its National AIDS and STD Control Programme .The budgetary allocation for the AIIMS has been increased to Rs 3599.65 crore .

Farmers

Agriculture

To woo distressed farmers ahead of general polls, the Centre Friday announced a direct income support of Rs 6,000 per year to those holding cultivable land up to two hectare, a move that would benefit 12 crore farmers and cost the exchequer Rs 75,000 crore annually.

Defence

Defence budget pegged at Rs 3.05 lakh crore

An outlay of Rs 3.05 lakh crore was Friday set aside for the defence budget for 2019-20 which was a hike of around Rs 20,000 crore compared to allocation of Rs 2.85 lakh crore in the current fiscal.

For the first time, budgetary provisions for the Home Ministry has crossed the Rs 1-lakh crore mark and is pegged at over Rs 1,03,000 crore for the next fiscal, with special emphasis on improving border infrastructure of police forces.

Nominal cut in budget allocation for CBI

The country's premier investigation agency CBI has been allocated Rs 777.27 crore in the interim union budget for 2019-20, a marginal reduction from last year's allocation.

Sports

Allocation for sports increased by over Rs 200 crore in 2019-20 interim budget

The government on Friday increased the sports budget by Rs 214.20 crore for the financial year 2019-2020, including a hike in funds for the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and incentives for sportspersons.

Among the announcements was a 10-point strategy to drive the economy's growth over the next decade.
