On Shani Snan At Kumbh Mela, Prayagraj Tents Go Up In Flames

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh): Just a day before the Maha Kumbh mela was to start of, a fire broke out in the Kumbh premises here on Monday. The fire destroyed a large area of the camp but there were no casualties or loss of life reported.

The fire erupted due to a LPG gas cylinder exploding at the 'Digambar Akhada' camp, in Sector 13 of the Kumbh complex .

Due to the quick action by the devotees, fire engines were called who rushed to the spot and doused the fire our and prevented the fire from spreading. It is said the cold winds added to the difficulty in controlling the fire. Police personnel , ambulances and soldiers were deployed to ensure the safety of pilgrims. The event is being organised in an area of 3,200 hectares, by the Uttar Pradesh government where the camps for the Sadhus are located.

The Ardh Kumbh Mela 2019 which starts on Tuesday is major religious, spiritual and cultural congregation of Hindus and attracts millions to the confluence of Ganga and Yamuna and the Saraswati rivers, where they take a dip in the rivers. More than 12 Crore people are expected to visit the place starting from today till March 4, 2019.
