CRPF Officer Usha Kiran - Sakshi Post

In a proud moment for the tribal women across India, CRPF officer Usha Kiran, the first woman COBRA commando, was awarded the Woman of the Year award in Young Achiever category by the Vogue magazine. In recognition of her exemplary work for CRPF in Chhattisgarh's naxal-affected Bastar area, she was seen as an inspiration to women across India, especially from the tribal areas.

Having cleared the entrance test to join the CRPF, she insisted for a post in a male batallion in the naxal hotbed in Chhattisgarh. The 28-year-old Officer is also the youngest female CRPF officer to be a part of the COBRA. According to sources, Usha Kiran comes from a family of servicemen who have also worked with the CRPF. She is a third generation member in her family heirarchy of defense personnel.

Very fittingly so, she was chosen as the Young Achiever Of The Year at the Vogue Women Of The Year 2018.
