Salem Bus Mishap Kills 7
Tamilnadu: Seven persons, including two women, were killed and 37 more suffered injuries as two buses collided head-on on the Salem–Bengaluru National Highway at Mamangam in the city in the small hours of Saturday.
According to police sources, a private bus proceeding to Dharmapuri from here was trying to avoid a stationary lorry, when its driver lost control of the vehicle. The bus jumped the median and collided head-on with an omni bus heading towards Palakkad from Bengaluru. The omni bus capsized in the impact of the accident which took place at 2 a.m.

Seven persons, including two women, all travelling in the omni bus were killed on the spot. A total of 37 persons, including 11 women, travelling in both the buses suffered injuries and were rushed to the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital. Some of them were later admitted to private hospitals.
Suramangalam Police have registered a case and are investigating.
