Students Of These Colleges Can’t Use Mobile Phones
The Tamil Nadu government has called for a ban on the use of mobile phones in colleges across the state.
As per directions from the government, a circular to this effect has been issued by the Directorate of Collegiate Education to all administration, government-supported and self-financing schools.
The principal of a private college in Chennai, who wanted to remain anonymous, attributed this move to the excess use of camera phones in mob iles. She stated, "Students film lady staff in embarassing positions and offer recordings via social networking media."
However, the move has been opposed by a section of students, guardians and academicians.
