National Level Shooter Shoots Kidnappers; Rescues Relative
New Delhi: A female national-level shooter - Ayisha Falaq - caught the nation's attention after she rescued her relative who was taken hostage by kidnappers.
At a time when the country is witnessing a series of assaults against women, Ayisha's exemplary act of bravery set an example on the need for self-defence. On Sunday, Ayisha's brother-in-law Asif was returning home in his cab. A student in Delhi University, Asif drives a cab in his free time for pocket money. During such a drive on Sunday, unidentified men boarded the cab posing as passengers and later kidnapped him at gun point near Daryaganj locality.
They forced Asif to stop the car and snatched his wallet. After finding just Rs 150 in his wallet, they told Asif to make a ransom call to his family. Asif's family informed the police and reached the location to rescue him. However, after noticing that the police too reached the spot, the abductors drove away and asked Ayisha to come with money to Bhajanpura.
Ayisha, who carried her licensed .32 bore pistol, drove to the spot to rescue Asif. In the milieu, Ayisha whipped out her weapon and shot one man on his waist and the other on foot. Both the kidnappers, who attempted to flee despite being injured, were taken into police custody and shifted to hospital for treatment.
