Nara Lokesh Does The Unthinkable: Links Aadhar Card To Nandi Awards
Vijayawada: AP's IT minister Nara Lokesh made a feeble attempt on Monday to defend the Nandi awards announced by the state government recently by linking the Aadhar card to Nandi Awards.
Addressing a meeting, he said those commenting on the Nandi awards do not have a local voter ID nor Aadhar card. "They only fly-in and fly-out of the state and are not local residents. These few people pass comment on the prestigious awards from Hyderabad. I reiterate that the entire selection process of the Nandi awardees was done in a transparent manner," he said. However, the remarks made by Lokesh on Monday defy logic. This is because Aadhar card is not a regional card but a national card. When media personnel raised the Aadhar card issue, Lokesh refused to respond.
It may be recalled that the as soon as the AP government announced the Nandi awards for the past three years, the internet and film fraternity expressed their dismay. The film industry split into two with those supporting and against the awards. Some even commented that only those close to the TDP and belonging to a particular community were favoured in the awards list.
