Nandyal Bypoll: EC Shocker To TDP, Says Voters Registered After January 1st Ineligible

Nandyal (Kurnool): A day after the Election Commission announced the schedule for Nandyal bypoll, the EC on Friday issued notices stating that the voters registered before January 1, 2017, were only eligible to cast their votes during the byelection that is going to held on August 24.

The development appears to have given a shock to the ruling TDP as the the party had recently enrolled 15,000 new voters into the list in the constituency.

The Nandyal Assembly constituency has total of 2,09,000 voters on January 1, 2017. With the latest development from the Election Commission, the TDP's strategy to win the bypoll by creating bogus voters has been foiled, the YSRCP spokesperson said.

The YSRCP has decided to trace the list of bogus voters ward wise in the constituency and lodge a complaint with the the Election Commission soon. The by-election to Nandyal Assembly constituency in Andhra Pradesh will be held on August 23. The notification will be issued on July 29 and the last date for filing nominations will be August 5. The result will be out on August 28.
