Nandyal Bypoll: Counting Begins, Result To Be Out By 12 Noon

The counting for the all-important Nandyal bypoll has begun at the Nandyal Government Polytechnic College. The officials have first completed the postal ballots first.

The total number of postal ballots polled were 250, but only 39 votes reached the counting centre on time. Another 100 votes reached after the expiry of the deadline. These votes and the other 39 votes were declared invalid on technical grounds.

The officials have installed special LED screens to inform the citizens about the polliign trends. The votes will be counted in 19 rounds and the first trends would be out by 9.30 am.

Initially, the counting of votes would be taken up in Nandyal rural, then in Nandyal town and finally in the Gosapadu rural mandal. The counting will be taken up in 14 tables and the 15th table is meant for the returning officer.

According to latest reports, the first round of counting has been taken up.

The authorities have imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 in the town to prevent any untoward incident. As many as 600 police personnel have been deployed in the city to maintain law and orders.
