Nandigama: YSRCP Leaders Under House Arrest

Hyderabad: YSRCP leaders, who had called for a road blockade on the national highway in Krishna district, demanding SCS to AP, have been put under house arrest here. YSRCP leader Mondithoka Jagan Mohan along with other leaders and party cadre were placed under house arrest today.

Meanwhile, the YSRCP leaders under the guidance of Aakapati Amarnath Reddy, seeking SCS conducted a protest including holding a road blockade at national highway to Kadapa-Chennai. Other party leaders have lent support to this and called for intensifying the movement to put pressure on the government.

Meanwhile, in New Delhi, undeterred by their worsening health, YSRCP MPs are continuing their fast which has entered the fifth day today. The fast is being held demanding SCS to AP. Against this backdrop, the YSRCP has called for similar protest fasts by the their leaders in the state.

It may be recalled that on March 22, the YSRCP party has lent its support to AP joint action committee (JAC), for a road blockade on National Highways in Andhra Pradesh between 10am to 2pm. YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy called upon his party leaders and cadre to participate and make the protest a successful one.

JAC leader Chalasani Srinivas asserted that if the Centre does not bow down to their demands, they will intensify their movement and make the NDA government understand what people’s anger could do. Another JAC leader and actor Shivaji said that the next step would be picketing of central government undertakings such as ONGC, Gail and HPCL . The JAC comprises YSRCP, Left Parties, Jana Sena Party, Aam Aadmi Party and all youth and students wings of parties, in addition to activists.
