Nagaram set to become a model village

The gas leak and the massive devastation after, the Government of Andhra Pradesh now promises to turn Nagaram village in East Godavari district into a model village.

East Godavari district collector Neetu Prasad has asked the officials to prepare a detailed report on developing Nagaram into a model village.

She addressed a meeting at the mandal parishad office, where she made this announcement. She also held discussions on the issue with the officials of GAIL and the rural poverty alleviation department.

“We have formed a committee with four directors for rebuilding and developing the village. The committee will prepare the report after a study tour of the village for a fortnight. ”said the collector.

She said that the GAIL would prepare an action plan based on the report.

“An ex gratia worth Rs.1.02 crore will be distributed by the deputy chief minister N Chinarajappa to those who lost their vehicles and crops due to the fire on July 6,” said the collector.
