‘My Husband Had Mental Issues, But We Loved Each Other A Lot’

Hyderabad: The IT professional Madhukar Reddy who committed suicide in US last week was suffering from serious mental conditions for which he was undergoing treatment, says his wife Swati who was thrashed by her in-laws during the funeral at Bhuvanagiri on Tuesday.

Madhukar and Swati got married six years ago and have 5-year-old daughter Sharmista. Blaming Swati for their son's death, the parents of Madhukar Reddy and all the relatives violently assaulted her when she visited the place during the funeral. Her mother had to escort her to safety from the mob.

Presenting the phone conversations between her and Madhukar before media on Wednesday, Swati said they never had major disputes and always loved and cared for each other a lot. She said she used to take her husband to doctor for psychological treatment, but he was somehow in a serious depression with his work related issues since March.

Madhukar’s message to Swati

He used to beat me some times, but would apologize later, Swati said adding that she never had any complaint though. "I failed to understand why his parents are behaving in such a manner. They should realize their mistake at least now for the sake of my innocent daughter and stop blaming me," she said.

If I had committed any wrong, USA police would not have allowed me to leave the country at all, said said.
