Municipal polls: Who won where?

The Congress party in Telangana and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Seemandhra are ahead in the municipal elections. In several districts, YSRCP candidates are leading. 

Incidentally, though YSRCP is participating in the municipal polls for the very first time, it has given the 30-year-old TDP a tough fight. (Live Updates)

Congress failed miserably in Seemandhra region. As per the current trends, It may not won even one municipality in these elections. Overall in Telangana, the Congress won 525 seats and the TRS 313. 

The TDP-BJP combine won seven municipalities, and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) bagged one each. 

TDP wins Rajahmundry Municipal corporation

Telugu Desam Party on Monday bagged Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation in East Godavari district.

Out of the 50 divisions, TDP won at 34 divisions. Congress won one division while YSRCP got eight divisions. Others won at the remaining seven divisions.

Further, the TDP also won seven municipalities and three nagar panchayats in the district. The municipalities won are: Tuni, Amalapuram, Mandapeta, Ramachandrapuram, Pithapuram, Peddapuram and Samalkot.

But, the party got a tough fight from YSRCP in the nagar panchayats of Mummidivaram, Gollaprolu and Yeleswaram. TDP got one ward more than YSRCP in  Yeleswaram. While in the other two nagar panchayats, both TDP and YSRCP won equal number of wards.

It is YSRCP all the way in Krishna district 

YSR Congress Party is leading the way in Krishna district as revealed by municipal results on Monday. 

YSRCP bagged Jaggayyapeta and Nuziveedu municipalities in the district. In the Vuyyuru municipality, YSRCP has won nine wards, while TDP and others won nine and three wards respectively. 

Reportedly, TDP is ahead in Nandigama, Tiruvuru and Pedana constituencies.

Kadapa: As of now, YSRCP got 20 divisions and TDP got 2 divisions.

YSRCP candidate Venkata Ramana defeated TDP’s mayor candidate Balakrishna Yadav at 7th division of the corporation.

At 4th divison, YSRCP’s mayor candidate Suresh Babu won by a margin of 1900 votes.

MLA candidate defeated as Councillor at Devarakonda

Municipal Councillor candidate at Devarakonda municipality,Ramavat Lalu Nayak, was defeated.

Incidentally, he also contested as the TRS candidate from Devarakonda assembly constituency in the recent general elections.

Also, TDP municipal chairman candidate Venkateswarlu was defeated as the councilor at Huzurnagar municipality.

Peculiarities observed in municipal results  

Some peculiarities can be observed in the municipal results that came out on Monday. Several chairman and mayor candidates are being defeated in these elections.

A tough fight is going on between Congress and TRS in Telangana region while in Seemandhra, the fight is between YSRCP and TDP.
