Mumbai: The city's school boy created a new world record after he slammed a mammoth knock of 1,045 runs in Under-14 cricket tournament at Kopar Khairane, Navi Mumbai on Tuesday.

The 13-year-old student Tanishq Gavate of Yashwantrao Chavan English Medium School represented his school team in the tournament and slammed the massive score in just 515 balls with 149 boundaries and 67 sixers. It may be recalled, earlier Pranav Dhanawade created a world record in school cricket category by scoring 1,009 runs in the Bhandari Cup inter-school tournament two years ago.

Tanishq, who usually comes second or third down in the batting order, requested his coach Manish to allow him to open the innings. After having tested him on the nets with a new ball and a few practice matches, he got a chance to open the innings in the semi-final match where he set the new world record.
