Mumbai model seeks death penalty for gangrape convicts
Hyderabad, A 26-year-old dancer from Mumbai, who was allegedly gang-raped by four persons here on the New Year's eve, Monday demanded death penalty for accused in such cases.
Maintaining that she is hopeful of getting justice, the victim thanked Hyderabad Police for acting swiftly and arresting the accused. After the incident, I lodged a complaint with Mumbai Police and the case was transferred to Hyderabad.
I came down to Hyderabad after gathering strength and with a hope to get justice, she told local TV channels. I thank the Hyderabad Police which ensured the arrest of the accused. They (police) supported me and now (after the arrest) I hope to get justice.
Those committing rape should be punished by hanging, she said. Narrating her ordeal after landing at the airport, the woman said she had come down to the city for a dance show at a hotel but was taken to a house in Nizampet area by four persons, who sexually assaulted her after spiking her soft drink with a sedative.
Five persons - four suspects and a driver who reportedly assisted them in the crime - have been arrested by Central Crime Station, a wing of Hyderabad Police, in the last three days.
