Mudragada Intercepted En Route To Padayatra, Placed Under House Arrest

Mudragada Padmanabham placed under house arrest - Sakshi Post

Kirlampudi: Disregarding the High Court order, the Andhra Pradesh police have stopped Mudragada Padmanbham from proceeding with his padayatra and placed the Kapu leader under house arrest for 48 hours.

This has heightened the already tense situation in East Godavari district's Kirlampudi.

Having secured a last minute permission from the High Court to go ahead with his proposed padayatra in Konaseema, Mudragada Padmanabham was on Tuesday intercepted by the police en route to his destination.

They requested to leader to cancel the padayatra or postpone it in the interest of peace and harmony in the state.

Padayatra Postponed

In light of the new development it is learnt that the Padayatra has been indefinitely postponed.

The padayatra was originally planned for five days from Wednesday, November 16 to 21. It was to begin at Ravulapalem and end at Antharvedi.

The High Court had earlier in the day refused to deny permission to the march stating that everyone had the right to demonstrate peacefully in a democracy.

The police however seem to have disregarded the order as they stopped the Kapu leader and placed him under house arrest.
