The big-ticket flick ‘Janatha Garage’ finally hit the screens on Thursday. Filmmaker Koratala Siva has given back-to-back hits with Mirchi and Srimanthudu. Has the director been successful giving another hit and getting into a hat-trick lot?
Well let’s check out..
Story
Anand (Jr NTR), an environmental science student is a nature lover and goes to any extent to protect the mother nature, who even goes on even advising people to plant saplings.
Satyam played by Mohanlal has left his past as a don and resides in Hyderabad helping poor sections with his garage. As the title denotes, the garage not only mends vehicles but it also mends problems of weaker sections.
Meanwhile, Anand happens to visit Hyderabad for his project who accidentally meets Satyam. Satyam in his very instinct feels to work with Anand and wants him to join his garage.
Will Anand joins his garage and will he acts as his aide to work for a cause forms the crux of the story.
Performance
Mohanlal is larger than life, although Jr NTR essays his role perfect but it’s the former who steals the show with his nuance in emotions and dialogue delivery. Two actresses - Samantha and Nithya - don’t have a meaty role except for adding a tinge of glamour quotient.
Kajal Aggarwal seen in an item song fits the bill and the item song is one of the highlight of the film. Other artistes like Unni Mukundan, Saikumar, Devayani, Rahman, Sithara, Brahmaji and Ajay play their part well.

Analysis
The director has chosen an interesting subject coming with a strong message but narration for the first half is quite slow. In certain scenes audience can easily make out what will happen.
Mohanlal’s screen presence is larger than life and Jr NTR is seen in new avatar. On the other hand too many characters have made the plot clumsy and don’t convey a meaning.
The second half is engaging and completely goes high with octane action increasing your adrenaline rush. Devi’s music score helps in elevating film and the songs are composed well. Kajal’s item song is sure to be hummed by the audience as they walk out of theatre.
Visuals have also been short well. The movie has been shot in Mumbai and Hyderabad and the director captures the scenic location well,
Verdict
Janatha Garage is not a typical potboiler flick as it comes out with a social message. The movie will appeal for general audience and those who expect to be masala film may not savor it.
