Mother strangles her little daughters to death

Hyderabad: In a tragic incident a young mother of two, unable to bear her troubles out of marital discord mercilessly strangled to death her own little daughters at her home in Shivlal nagar in Mangalhaat on Sunday.

The neighbours are shocked by this ghastly incident. Roja (21) and Sumit Pandey (26) had a love marriage seven years ago. They had two daughters Sumidhi Pandey (5) and Chinky Pandey (2). Sumit Pandey had been working as an auto driver, eking out a living transporting Arrack. This however was tough on the family and the couple often had fights over finances.

To make matters worse Sumit quit work a month ago and regularly stayed away from home till late in the night. This led to even more contentions as Roja constantly pulled him up for not supporting the family, as they did not even have enough to eat.

On Sunday evening, Roja lost her temper and mercilessly strangled both her daughters to death. She strangled Sumidhi first while choking Chinkey with a wire. Once the girls stopped crying Roja called her husband and informed him about it.

Sumit came home immediately and informed the Mangalhaat police station about what had transpired and also took the two children to Niloufer hospital. The doctors there declared them to be dead on arrival.

The police took Roja into custody. It has been reported that she is now eight months pregnant.
