More Engineering Colleges To Be Closed In Telugu States
Hyderabad: The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) announcement has brought a major setback as over 50 engineering colleges in Telugu states will be closed for the next academic year.
AICTE chairman Anil Dattatreya Sahasrabudhe said the decision was taken following poor infrastructure and less than 30 percent of admissions for five consecutive years and decided to shut 800 engineering colleges across India.
JNTU-H registrar N. Yadaiah said that colleges located in outskirts of Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, collages in rural areas will have a major effect. The colleges identified to shut down from next year would continue classes with the existing batches but would not conduct fresh admissions. Incidentally 65 engineering colleges were closed this year following few takers of the course.
