MLC Vakati Narayana Reddy Expelled From TDP

Vijayawada: Tainted MLC Vakati Narayana Reddy was expelled from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) following CBI raids at his properties on Friday.

An announcement to this effect was made by Andhra Pradesh chief minister and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu here on Saturday. "Mistakes will not be tolerated in the party and hence the expulsion," he said. However, political analysts state that the chief minister wanted to distance the party from the MLC and project a clean image for the party. Interestingly, similar raids were held at residences and offices of several TDP leaders in the past but no action was taken by the party.

It may be recalled that MLC Vakati Narayana Reddy owes over Rs 450 crore to several banks. The CBI conducted the raids following notices by the banks to Narayana Reddy.
